How We Are Paid
MJ Everson Financial has three methods listed below by which we can be paid for our services. Whichever method is chosen, all fees will be clearly and fully disclosed and agreed to by the client before assessed.
Fee-Based
This is where an investor pays us a percentage based on the amount of money invested. The fee ranges from 0.75% to 1.25% depending on the amount of assets invested.
- $100,000 to $250,000 1.25%
- $251,000 to $750,000 1.00%
- $751,000 to $2,500,000 0 .75%
- Over $2,500,000 negotiable
Fee-based accounts work best for those who want more active investment styles, those who itemize deductions on their taxes, or those who like to utilize tax-reduction strategies not available in mutual funds.
Commissions
This is best for the investors who like to set it up once and leave it alone. A commission is assessed on the investment upfront for the account. Typically that is with a mutual fund, annuity or life insurance company. Commissions range from 1% to 6% depending on the amount invested and the investment itself. Commissions are not deductible on taxes.
Commissionable accounts are how we work with anyone who has assets less than $100,000 to invest. It is also likely that life insurance and annuities involve commission payment. The insurance industry has been very slow to design competitive products for fee payment structure. But, even as we write, this is changing.
Hourly
Our hourly rate is $250. This can be a great way for people to get a second opinion on what their current adviser is proposing, have us work on one isolated project, design a financial plan, or evaluate their personal situation without having to actually engage us to manage their investments.
